Differential Pressure Sensor SDP3x - the World's Smallest Flow Sensor

The SDP3x is the world's smallest differential pressure sensor. It measures just 5 mm x 8 mm x 5 mm, opening up new dimensions of integration and application possibilities. The sensor is based on the next generation of the CMOSens® sensor chip and is the heart of Sensirion's new sensor platform for measuring differential pressure and mass flow. 

The SDP3x differential pressure is ideal for the measurement of mass flow in a bypass configuration. The sensor is reflow solderable, provides extended functionality, such as multiple I2C addresses and interrupt functions and a fast sampling time. Like all Sensirion differential pressure sensors, the SDP3x features excellent accuracy and long-term stability and has no zero-point drift. All this makes Sensirion's differential pressure sensor of the SDP3x series the perfect choice for high volume and cost-sensitive applications, where small size is essential.

The digital and fully calibrated and temperature compensated differential pressure sensor are available in different versions. The digital SDP31 sensor and the analog SDP36 sensor measure bi-directional pressure differences up to 500 Pa, while the digital SDP32 and the analog SDP37 measure bi-directional pressure differences up to 125 Pa.

An evaluation kit is available that enables simple and cost-effective evaluation of the SDP3x differential pressure sensor.

Liquid Flow Sensor LD20 - Single-use Flow Sensor for Biomedical Applications

Safe, precise, and reliable measurement of low flow rates in medical environment has never been so easy: The single-use liquid flow sensors of the LD20 series measure the liquid flow rate directly and at the point of interest for a more effective patient treatment and improved safety.

Nowadays, keywords and trends such as point-of-care, patient compliance, complex drug administering, and wearable designs demand the development of smart medical devices. The LD20 series combines Sensirion’s proven liquid flow sensing technology with a single-use, cost-optimized design for high volume applications in the medical, life-science or food industry. The sensor provides a bidirectional measurement of flow rates from 1000 ml/h down to single-digit ml/h, while it as well reliably detects common failure modes such as occlusion, free flow, or air bubbles with unprecedented speed and sensitivity.

The LD20 series optimizes costs by reducing the flow sensor to its bare minimum while still ensuring easy fluidic, electrical and mechanical connections. Barbed or luer lock fittings guarantee secure and straight-forward integration into the fluidic line: for example, into a catheter or an infusion set. Inert wetted materials provide outstanding chemical resistance and excellent media compatibility.

When using a sensor of the LD20 series, drug delivery can be measured precisely and in real time. Consequentially, drug therapies become more effective, as they become easier to monitor and control. Mass Flow Meter SFM3400 - Proximal Flow Sensor for Neonatal and Pediatric OEM Applications

The SFM3400 flow sensor is a proximal flow sensor for neonatal and pediatric applications in respiratory devices such as ventilation or anesthesia. The sensor is available as both a single-use version (SFM3400-D) and a reusable version (SFM3400-AW). The reusable solution is autoclavable and washable.

The SFM3400 flow sensor features outstanding measurement accuracy and a short signal processing time as well as high robustness. The digital flow sensor measures bidirectional flow rates of up to 33 slm and is fully calibrated for air, N2 and O2 gases. The special design of the flow channel results in a low dead space volume of less than 1 ml. The sensor features standard medical cones for pneumatic connection to the respiratory cycle and has a mechanical interface for a simple and user-friendly electrical connection. Thanks to its performance characteristics, the SFM3400 mass flow meters are ideally suited for proximal flow measurements in neonatal and pediatric OEM applications, ventilation in hospitals, emergency situations and home care applications.

Like all sensors of the successful SFM3xx platform, the SFM3400 is based on the innovative CMOSens® Technology, which combines the sensor element and processing electronics on a single, small CMOS microchip. Digital Humidity an Temperature Sensor SHT3x (RH/T) - Best-In-Class Humidity Sensor For Various Applications

The new digital SHT3x humidity sensor series takes sensor technology to a new level. As the successor of the SHT2x series it is determined to set the next industry standard in humidity sensing. The SHT3x humidity sensor series consists of a low-cost version with the SHT30 humidity sensor, a standard version with the SHT31 humidity sensor, and a high-end version with the SHT35 humidity sensor. The SHT3x humidity sensor series combines multiple functions and various interfaces (I2C, analog voltage output) with a applications-friendly, very wide operating voltage range (2.15 to 5.5 V). The SHT3x humidity sensor is available in both large and small volumes.

The SHT3x builds on a completely new and optimized CMOSens® chip, which allows for increased reliability and improved accuracy specifications. The SHT3x offers a range of new features, such as enhanced signal processing, two distinctive and user-selectable I2C addresses, an alert mode with programmable humidity and temperature limits, and communication speeds of up to 1 MHz.

The DFN package has a footprint of 2.5 × 2.5 mm2 with a height of 0.9 mm. This allows for integration of the SHT3x into a great variety of applications. Additionally, the wide supply voltage range of 2.15 to 5.5 V and variety of available interfaces guarantee compatibility with diverse integration requirements. Multi-Pixel Gas Sensors SGP

Sensor Platform for Flow Measurement in Respiratory Devices

Sensirion's flow platform SFM3xxx includes sensors for inspiratory, expiratory and proximal flow measurement as well as gas mixing in ventilation and anesthesia applications. With the platform, the sensor manufacturer offers its customers the right sensor for all flow measurements and underscores its worldwide expertise in the field of medical ventilation.

The SFM3xxx platform from Sensirion consists of multiple flow sensors with comprehensive capabilities for a diverse range of medical applications. All the sensors of the SFM3xxx platform share characteristics such as high precision and robustness. All are fully calibrated and temperature-compensated sensors and measure the flow rates of air and other non-corrosive gases bidirectionally and accurately. They also impress with very low pressure drop and fast signal processing times.

With this comprehensive range of features, the sensors of the SFM3xxx platform cover all gas flow measurement requirements in medical technology. The sensors can be used in a wide range of medical applications, such as artificial ventilation, anesthesia, drug delivery and metabolic measurements. The SFM3000, SFM3100 and SFM3200 mass flow meters are suitable for inspiratory flow measurements and gas mixing, while the autoclavable and single-use SFM3200-AW, SFM3300 and SFM3400 mass flow meters are the first choice for expiratory or proximal flow measurements.

The SFM3000 digital mass flow meter is ideal for high-volume applications in which cost efficiency is the priority. With the SFM3100, Sensirion offers a similar product that can be easily integrated into existing devices. A temperature sensor in the gas channel of the sensor enables highly precise temperature compensation and eliminates the need for an additional temperature sensor. The SFM3200 mass flow meter boasts a wide dynamic measurement range, high precision at low flow rates and low pressure drop in the flow body of the sensor.

With the SFM3200-AW, the SFM3300-AW and the SFM3400-AW, Sensirion also offers three autoclavable mass flow meters. Thanks to their robustness, the sensors can be treated in an autoclave, making them sterilizable and thus reusable. The SFM3200-AW offers outstanding performance at low flow rates and is used primarily in expiratory flow measurement applications, while the SFM3300 series (for adult ventilation) and the SFM3400 series (for pediatric and neonatal applications) were developed for proximal flow measurement. Both sensor variants are available in the reusable option "AW" and the single-use option "D". As both expiratory and proximal flow measurement have to work with humid respiratory air, a special, externally controllable heating element has been integrated. This helps prevent condensation on the sensor element.

Like all sensors from Sensirion, the outstanding performance of the SFM3xxx platform is based on the patented CMOSens® Technology. This enables integration of the sensor and evaluation circuit on a single CMOS silicon chip. The result is an ultra-precision system that offers long-term stability for sophisticated and cost-sensitive applications. The technology is also highly resistant to environmental effects, which is why CMOSens® based flow sensors are perfect for use as sterilizable sensors.
