Nanotechnology is omnipresent as the key and cross-sectional technology of the 21st century. In particular, it is the tiny size of the nanoparticles that account for their unique characteristics and make them attractive for many areas – be that in packaging, textiles, cosmetics or for medical technology.
Yet besides many outstanding skills, this technology raises many new questions: What risks do nanoparticles bear on health? What standards apply for nanomaterials and for what other areas could they become interesting? Read more about nanotechnologies for drinking water purity and nanosafety research in our current COMPAMED Special.
Drinking water purity:
The quality of drinking water is very important for the health of the general public. That is why there are different testing methods with which we detect harmful pathogens. However, the procedures are not always cost-efficient or easy to accomplish.
”For us it was about finding quicker methods than the previously established cultivation methods“Safety of nanomaterials:
Nano-sized materials are in greater demand than ever before. Their wide range of applications have convinced not only the medical but many other industry branches. However, despite this euphoria, the consequences of these substances for health, the environment and the workplace have not been fully deciphered yet.
”It becomes apparent that there can be vast differences between nanomaterials“
