Innovative mold technology for cost cut in medical disposables

Whether be it insulin cartridges for pens&pumps, the traditional single-use syringe or other medical devices – plastic disposables take up a considerable and increasing share of the device’s components.

The unit cost of these disposables is defined as early as in the stage of product and the related injection mold design, used for the production of the parts.

Univac uses an innovative hot runner concept that helps to engineer small and compact injection molds, with a minimum spacing between the parts. As a result much more compact molds can be used for the production of high volume disposables, smaller machines with less utility cost are needed and the output compared to traditional molds with the same size is higher. As an additional bonus, the wastage between two parts (‘Runner’) is being reduced, making the production more efficient.

Visit us at our booth and experience how our engineering approach can make the production of your disposables more effective.
